Zora Jane Hooker (Chastain) October 13, 1939 – August 29, 2026 Zora Hooker, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of August 29, 2026. She was welcomed into Heaven and joyfully reunited with the love of her life, David Hooker, her beloved husband of 54 years. Zora was a woman of deep faith who trusted in the grace of God and carried that faith throughout her life. Her life verse, “One Day at a Time,” beautifully reflected the way she lived—with love, strength, grace, and an unwavering trust in the Lord.

 For 31 years, Zora served as a nurse at Standifer Place, where her caring heart and compassion touched countless lives. She found great joy in caring for others, but her greatest love was her family. She leaves behind her children, Randy Hooker and Robyn Hooker Melton; grandchildren, Cassie Morrow, Chelsea Melton, Miranda Britton, Matthew Hooker, Richard Houzvika, and Jamison Dottore; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her cherished and very special friend, Faye Young. Zora is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved David; her parents, Morris and Ruby Chastain; and her brothers, Harvey Chastain, Dewey Chastain, and Danny Chastain. 

While her family will deeply miss her, they find comfort in knowing that she has finished her earthly journey and is now resting in the arms of her Savior, reunited with the ones she loved and separated from no more. Zora leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, love, compassion, and service. Her life will continue to live on through the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she loved so dearly. She lived one day at a time. She trusted in God’s grace. She loved with all her heart. And now, she is home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Buckner Fike Funeral Home, with visitation from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Jimmy Patterson and Gary Higgins will officiate. Pallbearers: Randy Hooker, Matthew Hooker, Chris Chastain, Todd Chastain, John Burgiss, and Jimmy Parton. Honorary Pallbearer: John Moore.
