William "Bill" Boyd Johnston

William “Bill” Boyd Johnston, 75, of Cleveland and a former resident of McCaysville, GA, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 in a Chattanooga hospital.  He was the Associate Minister at Central Church of Christ where he also served as a counselor.  Bill was retired from the Fannin County School System and also from the McCaysville Church of Christ.  He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Minus Johnston and Grace Elizabeth Conley Johnston; brother, James “Jimmy” McElhatten; mother and father-in-law, Eugene Paul Sheely and Alice Cornett Sheely; and brother-in-law, James Edward Sheely.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alice Sheely Johnston; three children, Kenny (Tammy) Johnston and Bryan Johnston, all of Cleveland and Lisa (Jason) Cook of Blue Ridge, GA; five grandchildren, Andrew (Kayla) Tidwell of Kingston, GA, Jared Johnston of Knoxville, Keira Cook of Blue Ridge, GA and Nicole (Jacob) Black and Chelsie Tidwell, all of Cartersville, GA; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Reeda (Leroy) Patterson of Stockbridge, GA and Betty (Ron) Savach of Hubbard, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Central Church of Christ with Ministers Ryan Ary, Butch Jones and Keith Ritchie officiating. 

His family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service.
