Wanda Gayle Vandergriff

Mrs. Wanda Gayle Vandergriff, of Birchwood, Tennessee passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 76.

Mrs. Vandergriff was born April 14, 1949, in Monroeville Alabama to the late Melvin and Dorothy Elder. She taught school in the Cleveland City School System for 25 years. Wanda loved all her 1st grade children and loved teaching them.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Wanda was voted most athletic in high school. She enjoyed doing cross stitch, crotchet work and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joan Haney.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Vandergriff; daughter, Aletta Jane Vandergriff, Cleveland, TN; son, Zachary Miles Vandergriff, Chattanooga, TN; sister, Mary Holder; brother Melvin Elder (Kay); several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the chapel at Poole Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wickes officiating.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2026, prior to the service.

Interment will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 20, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
