Sidney Leonard Posner, 82, of Georgetown, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Sidney was born on May 27, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to Max Posner and Molly Altman Posner, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two beloved brothers.

Sidney proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career with the State of New York Highway Department, from which he eventually retired. He later made his home in Tennessee, where he enjoyed many happy years surrounded by his family.

Sidney was blessed with sixty wonderful years of marriage to the love of his life, Rhoda Lee Posner, who survives and will forever cherish the memories they made together.

He is also survived by his loving children, Michael Scott Posner and fiancé, Laura, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Sara Robin Mayo and husband, David, of Georgetown, Tennessee; and his four cherished grandchildren, Morgan Shayna Posner and Brooke Ava Posner, both of Long Island, New York, and Matthew Mayo (Addison) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Ethan Mayo of Nashville, Tennessee and great grandson Hudson Wilder Mayo.

Sidney will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and proud veteran. His greatest joy was the family he built and the sixty years of love he shared with his wife. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Buckner & Fike Funeral Home and Cremation, with Pastor Doug Plumlee officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
