Michael Barnes, a dedicated Contract Specialist and United States Army Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Cleveland on June 5, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August 9, 1951, in Iowa, Michael’s life was marked by unwavering commitment to his family and country.

Michael’s early years in Iowa laid the foundation for a life driven by duty and devotion. After answering the call of service, he proudly served his nation in the United States Army, an experience that profoundly shaped his character. Following his military service, he pursued a career as a Contract Specialist, where his diligence and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael was a man who truly loved his family. His greatest joy came from the moments spent with those dearest to him, nurturing deep bonds that would carry forward his legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Nickerson Barnes; his son Jonathan Barnes and daughter-in-law Anna; his daughter Laura Barnes; and his siblings Teresa Shea, Paula Knuth and her husband Kurt, and John Barnes. In addition, several nieces and nephews continue to cherish his memory. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lola Barnes, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values he lived by.
