Glenda Winkfield, a devoted Licensed Practical Nurse and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at her home in Athens. Born on March 10, 1966, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Glenda dedicated her life to caring for others and found immense pride in both her nursing career and her beloved children.

Glenda’s enduring legacy is reflected in the love she shared with her family. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Jane Brown; her daughter, Rachel Rodriguez and son-in-law, Erick; her son, Thomas Winkfield and daughter-in-law, Kimber; as well as her grandchildren, Ethan Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez, and Aurora Winkfield. Her joy extended to her great-grandchildren, Akilah Winkfield and Hezekiah Winkfield, who brought additional light to her life. Glenda also leaves behind her sister, Heather Michelle Barnett, along with her brother-in-law, Willie, and numerous extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.

Glenda was preceded in death by her father, G. W. Brown, whose spirit she carried with her throughout her life.

Her compassion as a nurse and devotion as a mother defined her, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Glenda Winkfield’s gentle heart and unwavering commitment to her family and community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those privileged to have shared in her life.
