David Ray Hunt, 78, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his precious family on September 24, 2026.

David was born on November 3, 1947, in Bradley County, Tennessee, to Kenneth Hunt and Mable Wright Hunt, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his niece, Shipley Rose Buckner; his father-in-law, Ralph Buckner, Sr.; and his mother-in-law, Stella O. Buckner.

David retired after many years of dedicated service as an electrician at the Bowater plant. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all else, David treasured his family. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and was a man of strong and unwavering faith in the Lord.

Left to cherish his memory are his faithful wife, Linda Buckner Hunt; his son, Jacen David Hunt and wife, Renee; his grandchildren, David Luke Hunt, Lilly Hunt, and Hope Hunt; his daughter, Holly Allyson Schultz and husband, Jonathan; his granddaughter, Madeline Schultz; his sister, Susan Hunt Ross (Mack); sisters-in-law, Becky Buckner and Judy Harvey and husband, Sonny; brother-in-law, Ralph Buckner, Jr. and wife, Chari; nieces, Amy Williams, Stella Buckner, and Paris Buckner; nephews, Eric Neff, Paul Harvey, and Brandon Buckner; great-nephew, Sebastian Neff; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Friends and family may call on Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Main State Room of Buckner & Fike Funeral Home and Cremation.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Wickes officiating.
