Alice G. Reyes, née Garcia, a cherished homemaker and beloved mother, passed away peacefully at her home on June 17, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on February 9, 1927, in Flint, Michigan, Alice lived a life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.
Although born in Flint, she grew up in Rochester MI. Alice embarked upon a career with General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan, where she contributed her talents with dedication. Later, she made the heartfelt decision to become a homemaker, a role in which she truly flourished. Alice took immense pride in raising her ten children and nurturing the flourishing legacy of over one hundred and twenty grandchildren spanning multiple generations. Her role as a matriarch remained her proudest accomplishment and a reflection of her loving spirit. Alice achieved her GED at the age of 70 years old and was very proud of that accomplishment.
A woman of deep faith, Alice was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston. Her spiritual life was a source of strength and comfort, and she was widely admired for her unwavering commitment to her beliefs. She was known for her warm heart and boundless love for her children, who remember her as the cornerstone of their lives.
Alice is survived by her children: Theodoro Navarre (Marion), Fran Leppien (Rande-d) George Navarro (Sharon-d), Rudy Reyes (Kathy), Robert Reyes (Sandy), Rosie Reyes, Linda McCoy (Jim), and Lucy Reyes. She also leaves behind her beloved sister , Lena Robertson (Bob-d), and her brother, Frankie Ochoa (Nancy). The large and extended family she nurtured will continue to honor her memory with love and gratitude.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Herlinda Galan Garcia, her devoted husband Rodolfo Reyes, and their two precious sons, David Reyes and John Reyes. She also mourned the loss of her sisters Cathy Piazza (Steve-d) Rita Moore, Carmen Martinez and brother Manuel Garcia.
A funeral service to celebrate Alice’s remarkable life will be held on June 21, 2026, starting at 12:00 p.m. at 338 Market St NE, Charleston, Tennessee, followed by a celebration of life gathering at 1:00 p.m. There will be a gathering after the service in the rec hall behind the church. All those who were touched by her kindness and spirit are welcome to attend and share their memories.
Alice G. Reyes’ legacy is one of enduring love, faith, and family — values she imparted generously to all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and the countless others she held dear. In honoring her life, we remember a woman whose greatest joy was in the love she shared and the family she raised with such devotion.
