Evelyn M. Sylar

Evelyn M. Sylar, 81, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at her residence. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of Harmony Chapter 143 O.E.S. She was the daughter of the late Wilson Eugene and Rachael Williams Hixson; also preceding her in death were five sisters, Maggie Slaughter, Pauline Gentry, Christine Baker, Louise Cuvero' and Mildred Hickman. She is survived by her husband, William R. Sylar of Georgetown; one daughter, Joyce Finney of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Joe Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Fike Funeral Home.
