James R. Hensley

James R. Hensley, 97, formerly of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was a retired Church of God minister, and a member of the North Cleveland Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. Hensley and Amanda Hensley Williamson; wife, Viola Gann Hensley; infant son, Charles Edward Hensley; brother, Franklin and Hilman Hensley; sisters, Mae Hixson, Rosie Harden and Ester Lee Stokes; and great granddaughter Jaime Gilliam. Mr. Hensley is survived by sons, Lonnie (Glenna) Hensley of Ooltewah, TN and Dwight (Bertie) Hensley of Newport, TN; daughters, Polly (Lewis) Gilliam of Spring City, TN, Lucille (Alfred) Morisett of Jefferson City, TN, Connie (Joe) Fowler of Newport, TN; brother, Lloye Hensley; sisters, Hannah Bettis, Jean Potts, Faith Gilliam, and Vanette Caldwell; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Reverend Marshall Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Grasshopper Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends Friday, January 11 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 12 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
