Gertha Dean Hooper Hill, 80, of Cleveland, passed away August 24, 2014 in a Chattanooga hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife and mother, an extraordinary cook and homemaker, and a compassionate friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest B. Hill Jr.; her parents, Lake Hooper and Dorothy Hooper Sandidge; son, Robert H. Hill; and sisters: Hazel Sherer and Bobbye Whaley.

She is survived by one son, Forrest “Bucky” Hill III of Cleveland; two sisters: Dr. Linda Wells and husband Eddie of Cleveland, and Martha Bacon of Rossville, GA; one brother, Sterling Sandidge and wife Peggy of Crandall, GA; special friend, Charlotte Davis of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. John Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Candies Creek Cemetery concluding with a dove release ceremony. Nephews and cousins will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
