George "Cotton" W. Myers

George W. (Cotton) Myers, 78, a lifelong resident of Birchwood, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the family residence.  He was a member of Gamble Road Baptist Church. He was retired from Magic Chef- Maytag
Whirlpool after 25 years of service. He was a member of the RSV P~ Senior Neighbors and loved football and other sports.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his wife, Della Sue Pendergrass Myers; son, Wallace Myers, and also his parents, Jasper Myers and Ida May Myers; siblings:  Bula Lawson, William Myers, Alfred Myers, Charles Myers, and Margaret Bradford.

He is survived by his two daughters:  Carolyn Shannon and husband, David, and Kathy Griffith and husband, Sammy all of Birchwood; 6 grandchildren:  Willie Shannon, James Myers, Kimberly McQuinn, Harold Hale, Daniel Griffith, and Kayla Griffith; 6 great-grandchildren:  Tyler Kelley, Atlas and Eva Shannon, Dylan and Nathan Myers, Destiny McHone; loving sister, Irene Phillips and husband, Lorenzo of Graysville Mountain, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Josh Cornelius officiating.  Interment will follow in McInturf Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at the funeral home.
